It is the 100th season for the NFL ad boy oh boy it's going to be exciting. The NFL is definitely the sport I know the best. Now I will warn you I will be a little bit biased because I’m a die-hard Packers fan but I will keep it as neutral as possible. So today I’m going to break down each division and team and predict who I think will win in those divisions and the super bowl. So let’s just get right into it.
The AFC East will be one of the least competitive division this year. The Patriots I think will go 12-4 with Tom Brady again (unfortunately) being amazing. The Dolphins will have a .500 year and the Jets will improve a little bit with their second year college superstar Sam Dalton and now Le’Veon Bell, but nowhere near enough to compete for the playoffs (yet). Do we even need to talk about the Bills? With the competition in the AFC, I see no outcome where they make the playoffs. The Patriots will be the 2nd seed in the playoffs and that’s that.
The AFC West will be pretty competitive this year. The Chiefs will go 13-3 and get the first seed in the playoffs. The Broncos and Raiders will be fighting for the 2nd spot in that division though. With Antonio Brown that really could shake things up in Oakland (soon to be Las Vegas woot woot). Joe Flacco is in pretty much the same spot he was in Baltimore. A really good defense and an offense that just needs a really good quarterback. So this could be a real make or break situation for the Broncos this year. I see the Chargers going 10-6 or 11-5 and earning the 5th seed in the playoffs. The Chiefs will get the 1st seed, and the Broncos and Raiders will both miss the playoffs. That just shows how competitive the AFC is this year.
The AFC North will be very good as well this year. The Browns will be magnificent. Baker Mayfield will compete for MVP with his two star wide receivers Landry and Beckham. They will go 11-5 and get the 4th seed in the playoffs. The Ravens will go 9-7 with their good running quarterback and always amazing defense. They will barely sneak into the playoffs at the 6th seed. The Steelers will be bad without Le’Veon and Antonio and go 7-9. Big Ben is no longer an elite quarterback and will fail the Steelers. The Bengals are just bad and will have a losing record. So the Ravens will get in as the 6th seed and the Browns as the 4th.
The AFC South is about Andrew Luck and the Colts. I see them having a great season and going 12-4 but earn the 3rd seed. The Texans are an up and coming team but I just don’t see them breaking the barrier yet. They will go 8-8 and miss the playoffs. The Titans and Jaguars will probably also be around a .500 team but they won’t be in contention for the playoffs. So the only team that will make the playoffs for the South is the Colts.
Now time for the NFC. The NFC East will be competitive this year. If Carson Wentz stays healthy though, I just think that him and his team are too good to be dethroned. They will go 11-5 and earn the 2nd, that’s right I said 2nd seed in the NFC playoffs. The Cowboys will be in the 9-7, 10-6 range and earn the 5th or 6th seed in the playoffs. I think the Giants will be noticeably better this year but not enough to get them into the playoffs. The Redskins are just garbage haha. So the Cowboys will get in as the 5th seed and the Eagles at the 2nd.
The Rams will control the NFC West even without a great record. They will be 10-6 and win the division and the 3rd seed. The Seahawks will be at 8-8, I just don’t think they have the firepower they used to. The Cardinals will be pretty bad. Jimmy G will hopefully make the 49ers better but I don’t see them making a run this year. So the Rams will go in as the 3rd seed.
This is not biased I truly believe this will happen. The Packers will win the NFC North. The Bears are not the team they were last year and I see them in the .500 range. The Vikings need to add some more pieces before the battle for the crown of the North. I truly think the system with the new coach and Aaron Rodgers will work and the Packers offense will be deadly. They will go 10-6 and go in as the 4th seed in the playoffs. As for the Lions, they need a lot more before they can get a winning record.
Now for the last division, the NFC South. The Saints will go 12-4 and get the 1st seed in the playoffs. The Falcons will go 9-7 and get the 6th seed. I really think Matt Ryan will come back and have a good year. The Panthers will be around a .500 team but they still aren’t capable of competing. The Buccaneers are irrelevant. Drew Brees will win MVP and get this team far in the playoffs.
Now it’s time for the playoffs. I do want to say though, that this scenario is if everything goes to plan and no one is injured so it will probably be much different than this. Let’s start with the AFC. The Colts will advance to play the Patriots and the Browns will play the Chiefs in the conference playoffs. The Colts will fight hard and it will be a shootout in Foxborough but Brady will ultimately come up winning once again. The Browns will fight hard but ultimately lose by two scores to the better Kansas City team. Now for the Championship. The Chiefs offense is going to be too good and too unstoppable and at home they will dethrone the big bad Patriots. They will punch their way into the Super Bowl. The Packers will advance to play the Saints because of an Aaron Rodgers 2 minute drive at the end. The Rams will advance to play the Eagles. The Saints will be at home in the conference game and are too good and the Packers will fall. It hurts me to say that but I’ve already been biased enough. The Rams and the Eagles will have a shootout but the better quarterback will win. That quarterback is Carson Wentz. So the Eagles and the Saints will play in the championship. The Saints will be hungry to avenge last year and win in another shootout.
So there it is. I think that is how this season will go. Now please remember this is without any injuries and things like that. I see the Saints beating the Chiefs in the Super Bowl and possibly we see a ride off into the sunset for Drew Brees?! I just know I am very excited for this season and can’t wait for all the drama that is bound to happen.
